Arrow launches high-efficiency, easy-opening overhead door closer.

The Arrow 300,325 and 500 series of fixed  and variable power, rack and pinion over head door closers from Arrow Architectural, which help fire door sets to comply with an opening force of 30N as specified in Approved Document M, have now been tested to efficiencies of upto 77% by Warrington Architectural product Testing (APT).

These high-efficiency closers offer a lesser resistance to opening by the frail, disabled or encumbered, whilst providing power size 3(producing a minimum closing force of 18NM) for fire doors as laid down in BS  EN 1154.

Building Regulations Approved Document M ("Access & Facilities for Disabled People") is the code of practice for the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) which came into force in the UK on 1st October 2004.

The 77% figure for efficiency considerably exceeds the proformance bands given in both BS EN 1154 (55% at EN3) and the technical memorandom signalling an amendment to BS 8300 which was issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister(ODPM) on the 3rd March 2005 (60%-65% at EN 3).

Furthermore Arrow Architectural provides flexible closer solutions for fire door widths less than the 900mm stated in the ODPM memorandom.
